2008 has been very busy for us. The daycare is doing well plus we had a baby girl a couple of months ago. She is consuming most of our time right now. The weather has been oddly warm this winter so far. The dog’s seem to love the cooler weather. Makes them a bit nuts.
Our blogging has been pretty much non existant for a while but we will be starting to get back on track and post some new dog related blogs very soon.
Have a wonderful New Years!

Toast to the Dogs! America’s love affair with pets is stronger than ever before. In fact, pet spending in the U.S. is expected to surpass $40 billion this year. So, when Ileen Kaufman of Boca Raton, Florida wanted a one-of-a-kind way to celebrate the “woman’s best friend” in her life, she surprised her family and friends with a very special wine. It’s a “tail” unlike any other.
Kaufman contacted Dog Lovers Wine Club and “Molly’s Merlot” was created. The custom wine labels, featuring the family’s 9-year-old Boxer, were beautifully illustrated from an original photograph of Molly. Kaufman marked the arrival of the bottles by throwing an intimate dinner party, featuring “Molly’s Merlot” as the main attraction. “You buy the wine for a dual purpose,” says Kaufman. “I love wine and I support animals.”
Dog Lovers Wine Club is a boutique winery, based in California, that supports The Humane Society of the United States.
The Dog Lovers Wine Club mission is to blend wine with philanthropy. “It’s a win-win situation for everybody,” adds Kaufman. “To be honest, we didn’t know what to expect with the wine. But, it actually surpassed our expectations. Every single dinner guest loved it.”
Aside from offering custom wine labels and beautiful art images, Dog Lovers Wine Club has a very special and unique wine club with monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly premium wine shipments sent to club members. The wine club shipments are accompanied by inspirational stories of families and their life with dogs. Each month the wine club labels are illustrated from select photos received from dog lovers around the country. There are even tips about life with dogs, tasting notes about the featured wine, the source of the grapes and recommended food pairings.

Today is National Black Cat Day in Italy. People have such a fear of black cats there that they are now celebrating them nationally to try and help change that image and stop the estimated 60,000 black cat killings each year.
I think this would be a great thing for the U.S. to do also since black cats and dogs have the hardest time getting adopted because of the color of their fur.
Let’s hope the people of Italy will see that black cats are beautiful and the people in the U.S. will give black cats and dogs a chance at happiness by giving them a loving home through adoption.

Well, as I was trying to catch up on some news, I came across an interesting story about a man in India who married a dog.Aparantly a 33-year-old man in Southern India married a female dog in a Hindu ceremony. An astrologer told the man that marrying Selvi, a 10 yr old stray, would be the only way break the curse of bad luck he has had since he stoned two other dogs to death over 15 yrs ago. He has vowed to take care of the dog for the rest of his life.
We are all for dog adoption so I guess this story worked out in the end. It would have been nice if the man had truly been sorry for his past instead of keeping the dog because the astrologer said it will relieve him of his bad luck. I believe it will help him in the long run since we all know that pets in general can help people live longer, happier and healthier lives.

Here are the top ten most common items surgically removed from pets, according to Veterinary Pet Insurance:
- Socks
- Underwear
- Panty Hose
- Rocks
- Balls
- Chew Toys
- Corn Cobs
- Bones
- Hair Ties/Ribbons
- Sticks
Other frequently ingested objects include nails, sewing needles and nipples from baby bottles. But VPI has also received medical records for pets that have swallowed pagers, hearing aids, drywall, snail bait, batteries, rubber bands, toy cars, and sand with bacon grease poured on it.
A dog has even swallowed a Wii Game Systems remote control.

Well, first off we want to say thanks to all our Veterans for their service.
We had an interesting morning so far. One of our boarding doggies had not pooped yet during their stay here. This morning I picked the little guy up and saw that he had a HUGE mat of hair and dried up poop covering his rectum. I was grossed out a bit but knew that I had to remove the mat to help the dog. This poor pup was in pain from the mat pulling at its skin. See some dog owners don’t realize that when you have a medium hair, long hair or curly hair dog you need to be sure and keep the hair around their butt trim. It took me about 30 minutes to get this mat removed. As soon as it was off the little dog was running around jumping and happy. I’m sure it must have felt great to not have that mat pulling on his skin any longer. If a mat is left to long in a dogs hair it will only get bigger and will pull at the dogs skin. It could also tear the dogs skin. Please people keep your dog mat free….they will love you for it.
Until tomorrow…have a great Sunday afternoon!

Gosh, we are going back and forth about blogging. We have other sites to maintain and lots of doggies to play with so, we just don’t know if we will have time to update this on a regular basis.
You know how it is. You start something and you do it all the time at first then you start to forget about it and eventually you just stop. Well, we don’t want that to happen but you never know…right?
For now we will blog…who know’s what the future holds
